Filmed during the peace process in 2013–2014, Bakur (“North” in English) is the first documentary to be made with an inside look on the Kurdish group PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), which is considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, EU and the US.
Bakur intimately explores the daily reality of guerrilla fighters in the mountains of northern Kurdistan, documenting the personal stories and political views of men and women who have chosen to join the armed struggle.
