For most refugees, a mobile phone is an essential tool to organise their escape: They use it as a GPS, to get information or exchange information in groups, to contact smugglers and keep contact with family members and friends. Some also use it as a “reporter’s tool”. This gripping documentary offers an insight into their hazardous journeys.

Using footage shot by refugees from Afghanistan, Syria and Eritrea on their mobile phones, it is expertly intercut with interviews that connect their outer journeys with the ones that took place within.
